The bases offered by Artigiani del Restauro are Berkel pedestals designed to enhance the beauty of the company’s historic models. A refined element that highlights the full elegance of the flywheel slicer.
Slicer Pedestal: Aesthetics and Functionality
The need to pair the first slicer model with a pedestal arose from merchants’ requirement for a work tool that would take up little space, be practical and functional, and facilitate cleaning and maintenance. Originally, the shops in which flywheel slicers were displayed were very small, and retailers had limited space at their disposal. Van Berkel therefore devised a pedestal on which to place the machine — one that, in addition to lending elegance and prestige to the working tool, would meet the practical needs of his customers.
Today a Berkel pedestal is not only a functional base for a slicer but also a visually striking furnishing element with refined retro appeal, enhancing and completing the character of the historic manual slicer. Displaying a Berkel flywheel slicer on its pedestal immediately restores it to the splendour of a bygone era. Moreover, it provides an excellent solution to space constraints. Thanks to a slicer pedestal, your Berkel can be positioned anywhere, occupying minimal space while adding value to your home, restaurant or shop.
Pedestal for a Vintage Berkel Slicer
In our catalogue, you will find the Berkel pedestal compatible with your manual slicer model. These are pieces carefully restored with artisanal craftsmanship. Extremely stable, they consist of a base resting on the floor, featuring three or four supporting feet depending on the selected model. Rising from the base is a column that extends up to the cross-shaped support – so called for its distinctive form composed of four evenly spaced arms – upon which the Berkel slicer is positioned.
In addition to historic cast-iron models compatible with Berkel slicers produced throughout the twentieth century, you may also choose a fully customised, made-to-measure Berkel base.
Recreated from original period pedestal designs, the bespoke Berkel slicer pedestal is decorated with floral motifs clearly inspired by Art Nouveau. A faithful reproduction of the original detailing, developed through careful study of historical photographs, now lending timeless beauty to the Berkel pedestal.
